Simon Van de Voorde spent the morning before leaving for Monza, where Trentino will play the match 2 of the Championship Playoff on Wednesday evening, on Radio Dolomiti between 11.30 and 12 p.m. He was a guest of the Trentino Volley’s broadcaster partner for the weekly program of “Trentino Volley on FM – Dj for a day”. The Belgian central hitter told his approach to the volleyball world. “Volleyball was my destiny – stated the likeable twenty-seven-year old in zone 3 - ; I’ve always been tall and my parents had both played this beautiful sport. I had all the reasons to continue the Van de Voorde’s volleyball dynasty”. “I enjoy staying here in Trento, I often go out for a walk with my family (the wife Sofia and little Daan were present in the broadcaster) in the city centre and I love when supporters recognize me. They all are very nice – stated Simon before transmitting his favourite song (“Salty Dog” by Flogging Molly) - . Volleyball isn’t so popular in Belgium: there are only a couple of teams that have enthusiastic supporters like Maaseik and Roeselare, but in the other cities they don’t have the passion that there’s here. The results of the national team make us a little more popular but here in Italy it’s another issue. The best player I’ve ever confronted? Kubiak”. This morning there was also an interpreter from ISIT (the Academic Institute that translates the news for the English website of Trentino Volley), that helped Van De Voorde expressing into Italian or into English.
